• Willis buoyed by entry to S&P 500

    Willis is set to join the Standard & Poor's 500 stock index
    following its merger with consultancy Towers Watson.
    S&P said that the combined business, which will trade as
    Willis Towers Watson under the ticker WLTW, will join the index on
    4 January.
    Watchmaker Fossil will drop to the S&P Mid-Cap 400.
    Willis shares are likely to be boosted by the news, as the stock
    will now be held by index funds....
  • Axa completes Brazilian acquisition

    Global insurer Axa has closed its BRL135mn (EUR31mn) takeover of
    SulAmérica Companhia de Seguros Gerais.
    The business represents the large industrial and commercial
    business of SulAmérica, the fourth largest insurer in
    Brazil.
    The subsidiary writes marine hull, marine cargo and property,
    along with other lines of business.

    £1bn-£1.5bn ($1.5bn-$2.2bn) from storms Desmond and
