Amlin has hired Marsh cyber practice leader Stephen Wares to set
up a new cyber unit at its Lloyd's Syndicate 2001,
The Insurance Insider can reveal.
Wares has been cyber practice leader for Europe, the Middle East
and Africa at the broker since 2012, heading up a team of 20
UK-based staff. He will leave Marsh in May next year to begin his
new role.
The appointment means Amlin will directly enter the cyber
insurance market for the first time....

Zurich increases job cuts to 1,800
Zurich Insurance Group has increased the number of jobs it plans to
eliminate to 1,800 as part of ongoing restructuring plans.
After announcing in November that it planned to axe 440 jobs,
the insurer told Bloomberg yesterday (3 December) that this number
would increase to 1,800, including 500 jobs at Zurich Germany, 440
in the UK, 360 jobs at Zurich Global Corporate and 200 general
insurance jobs in Switzerland.

PRA to focus on underwriting in 2016
UK watchdog the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) will begin
to shift its focus toward underwriting and pricing governance from
next year, director of general insurance Chris Moulder said
yesterday (3 December).
Speaking at the Westminster Business Forum, Moulder said that in
the build-up to Solvency II - which comes into effect on 1 January
- the PRA had been broadly focused on capital and reserving.
However, he added that the regulator's focus would now
change.

Glass Lewis delivers another blow to Willis-Towers Watson merger
Towers Watson shareholders should still vote against the
consultancy firm's proposed merger with Willis despite the
offer of a higher cash dividend, according to Glass Lewis.
The recommendation from the proxy firm represents another blow
for the proposed tie-up, with a growing consensus that the
restructured merger of equals (MoE) will not go through.
