• Mahoney takes over RFIB CEO role

  Lloyd's broker RFIB today (6 November) announced that
  executive chairman Dennis Mahoney will step into the role of CEO
  following regulatory approval.
  Jonathan Turnbull, who joined RFIB in 2008 and took on the CEO
  role in 2011, will part ways with the company after the transition
  has been made.

  existing specialty lines and geographic expansion, as well as for
  developing the infrastructure to support further growth and

  Neila Buurman director of international casualty, Middle East &
  Canada, at QBE Insurance Europe, has handed in her notice at the
  company, The Insurance Insider can
  reveal.
  The executive, who has spent the last 15 years working at the
  successful London-based QBE casualty business unit that
  incorporates Syndicate 386 at Lloyd's, is understood to be
  heading to the Lloyd's start-up Probitas Syndicate 1492. It is
  thought Buurman has a six-month notice period.

  New York-listed insurer Navigators saw operating income for the
  third quarter dip to $20.3mn from $26.1mn for the same period last
  year.
  Underwriting deteriorated as the carrier's combined ratio
  increased from 89.5 percent in Q3 2014 to 93.4 percent in the
  current reporting season.
  But that was partially offset by net investment income for the
  quarter that increased to $17.4mn, a 9.7 percent uplift on the
  $15.8mn it reported in the prior-year period.

  US insurance giant Nationwide fell to a $36mn
  third quarter operating loss in its P&C business, compared to a
  $190mn profit in the prior-year period.
  At group level - including Nationwide's financial services
  and corporate segments - the insurer reported operating income of
  $159mn, down from $272mn in Q3 2014, while net profits fell by
  less, from $144mn to $113mn.
  For the first nine months of the year operating and net profits
  increased at the P&C and group level, however....
