Mosquera joins Arch Re
Arch's reinsurance arm has added to its ranks with the hire of
Paul Mosquera as senior international property underwriter,

Mosquera was most recently at Qatar Re, where he had a brief
stint in Zurich after joining a year ago from AQR Re.

Chubb comfortably beats but commercial rates flat in Q3
Chubb has followed rival Travelers with a comfortable operating
earnings beat as it reported Q3 net income per share that was at an
all-time high for any quarter in its history.
The company, which is in the process of being bought by Ace,
booked net income per share up 5 percent to a record $2.60.
Operating profits climbed from $522mn to $547mn and at $2.37 per
share were also a record for the third quarter and a comfortable

Ace posts record $897mn Q3 operating profit
Ace mirrored its proposed acquisition Chubb as it too posted a
record after-tax operating profit for the third quarter despite
volatility in the forex markets.
At $897mn, the result marks a $6mn - or 0.8 percent -
improvement on its performance for Q3 last year.
But net profits were down by a third to $528mn as realized
investment losses more than trebled from $106mn to $362mn.
The Switzerland-domiciled carrier recorded a P&C combined
ratio of 85.9 percent for the quarter,...
