Replace National Insurance with tax dedicated to NHS and social care, say experts
National Insurance should be replaced with a new, ring-fenced tax dedicated to health and social care, a panel of health experts has recommended.The extra cash "should be matched by equivalent increases in funding for the devolved nations under the Barnett Formula", it adds.For an additional two years, it is also recommending a further rise of £2.5bn a year, again matched by increases under the Barnett Formula for the devolved nations.
