One in seven species faces extinction from Great Britain
Around 15% of Britain's species are at risk of extinction on our shores, according to a new report. An assessment of 8,000 species showed that 1,199 are at risk of disappearing from Great Britain. The research also suggests that 56% of almost 4,000 studied land and freshwater species suffered declines in numbers or the areas where they are found between 1970 and 2013. -
Medals galore for Paralympics GB on day six of Rio 2016
Paralympics GB won three more gold medals on Tuesday evening - stunning their competition in the swimming and the athletics. There was gold for Matthew Wylie in the 50m S9 freestyle, and another for Stephanie Millward in the women's 100m S8 backstroke. Libby Clegg and her guide Chris Clarke have also won their second gold medal of the Rio Games - coming first in the 200m T11 sprint following their victory in the 100m race.
