A Briton accused of trying to shoot Donald Trump at a Las Vegas rally has pleaded guilty to lesser charges. Michael Sandford, 20, of Dorking, Surrey, appeared in court on Tuesday charged with trying to grab a policeman's gun to attack the Republican presidential candidate in June. "I tried to take a gun from a policeman to shoot someone with, and I'm pleading guilty," Sandford told a judge in Las Vegas. -

In a statement Ms Fairhead, who has held the role since October 2014, said: "The Prime Minister strongly encouraged me to take part in the new appointment process for what would be a new four-year term as BBC chairman. A senior policeman has commended the bravery of his officers after one of them was stabbed while trying to arrest a rape suspect. Four officers were on foot patrol in the Huyton area of Liverpool this morning when they recognised the suspect and attempted to detain him. A Briton accused of trying to shoot Donald Trump at a Las Vegas rally is to plead guilty to lesser charges, his mother says. Michael Sandford, 20, of Dorking, Surrey, was due to appear in court on Tuesday charged with trying to grab a policeman's gun to attack the Republican presidential candidate in June. Mrs Sandford told ITV News London: "I was very relieved that he signed it.
