• Heaton Moor care home lit up for poignant remembrance event

    A HC-One care home in Heaton Moor was lit up with falling poppies this Sunday when it hosted a Remembrance event to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.

    Five team members from Great Oaks care home in Bournemouth, have completed the ‘Be an Effective Leader’ programme.
    Great Oaks is managed by Encore Care Homes, which invests significantly in the personal development of its staff and presents them with regular training opportunities throughout the year.   • Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society

    The staff, residents and families of Rose Lodge care home have been uniting against dementia as the home held its own Memory Walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
    Participants completed ‘The Great Aycliffe Way Walk’, a well known five and a half mile circular walk in the surrounding countryside to the north of the Town.
    Twenty people from the home took part, as well as some furry four-legged supporters too!

    Care home managers are being offered free support to help reduce staff sickness levels related to stress brought on by the complex demands of the UK’s growing number of dementia patients.
     
    Fresh concerns surrounding the mental well-being of care home staff who look after dementia patients have been raised by Tracy Gough, a registered nurse, life coach, therapist and author from Stoke on Trent.
