  • Care Minister visits Solihull care home

    The Minister of State for Care, Caroline Dinenage MP, has visited The Royal Star & Garter Homes in Solihull to see the specialist care it provides.
     
    The Minister was given a tour by The Royal Star & Garter Homes’ Chief Executive Andy Cole and Home Manager Cheryl Harbourne during her visit on 5 November.
     
    The Charity provides 24-hour care for veterans living with disability or dementia and recently increased the number of people it helps by launching a day care service.

  • Young people volunteer their time at befriending residents of Sanctuary Care

    Hundreds of teenagers have volunteered in Sanctuary Care homes across the country as part of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme, delivered by leading social integration charity The Challenge.
     
    More than 500 teens, aged between 15 and 17 years, spent time in 25 homes befriending residents and helping to deliver a host of activities including tea parties and Sanctuary Care’s popular Cruise Week events.

    Woodlands House in Southampton excitedly welcomed 2 Alpacas in to the residential care home to meet and greet the residents.
    Standing at one metre in height, Alpacas originate from regions of South America including Peru, Chile and Bolivia, and during the first time visit the furry creatures met the 36 residents for a close-up interactive meet and greet session.
