New Mercedes-AMG A 35 Saloon 2020 review
Image 1 of 16
Image 1 of 16 3 Jan, 2020 5:45pmJames Brodie
Can the Mercedes-AMG A 35 saloon offer the same thrills as the hatchback, but with added practicalitySuddenly, Mercedes appears to be making a lot of small fast cars. If you’re in the market for a compact AMG-badged Merc, you’re spoilt for choice. While the original A 45 hatch has been produced since 2013, Merc has now added the lower-powered A 35 to the range, with Volkswagen Golf R-rivalling performance.
And now this e -

New Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 2020 review
Image 1 of 19
Image 1 of 19 3 Jan, 2020 5:45pmJames Howe
Mercedes’ A-Class based CLA four-door coupe has performance option. How does the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 stack up?The Mercedes CLA rounds off the wider A-Class line-up as a stylish four-door coupe or Shooting Brake estate that takes more than a little inspiration from the larger CLS.
The fact that the A-Class Saloon exists at the same time as the CLA is testament to Mercedes’ fondness for niche-filling – as is the -
Subaru of America breaks sales record with 700K
Subaru of America has set an eleventh consecutive annual sales record, crossing the 700,000 mark in the process. The USA is easily Subaru's largest market. Sales in 2019 again outpaced Hyundai Motor America (688,771) and were almost double those of Volkswagen (363,322). -
Ford GT40
Commissioned from Eric Broadley, the owner and design guru of successful English racing car builder Lola Cars, the legendary Ford GT40 was developed purely to beat Ferrari in sports car races.
The two brands weren’t natural competitors, but Enzo Ferrari famously upset Henry Ford II after unilaterally pulling out of talks about a possible takeover of Ferrari. Ford had already spent a fortune on putting the deal together, and wasn’t a happy bunny.
Determined to humiliate the Italians o -
Cadillac Type 53
Not many people have heard of the Cadillac Type 53. Why? Well for starters it was designed, built and sold mainly in the US, secondly, it was only available for a single year in 1916 and thirdly, it wasn’t even very popular!
Every modern driver owes the little-known Cadillac a debt of gratitude though, because it was the first car to introduce driving controls in the layout we use today. That means with three pedals for accelerator, brake and clutch (set out in the right order), and a gear -

Best American cars of all time
The culture surrounding American cars is incredibly diverse, and it can mean different things to different people. The quintessential US motor is the American muscle car, with monstrous V8s and aggressive styling. But other iconic looks include the chrome and fins of the 1950s, the Al Capone gangster era, and of course hot-rod and drag racing machines as well.
Meanwhile, there are historic American cars to consider from the birth of the motor car, such as the unmistakable Model T Ford. Fast forw -

A full used buyer’s guide on the Kia Carens covering the Carens Mk3 (2013-date)With SUVs now making up around a third of all new-car sales, it’s easy to forget that people carriers were once the darlings of the dealer forecourt. And, just as off-roaders started at the larger, more expensive end of the market before trickling down to crossover size and smaller, MPVs began at the bigger end of the market, too, until their po -

Duesenberg Model J
The Duesenberg Model J is revered amongst enthusiasts as it was once considered the finest car on sale. It’s certainly true of American manufactured models, but not such a clear-cut case when you factor in European rivals such as Rolls-Royce, Bugatti or Maybach.
Still, there’s no doubting the Model J’s magnificence. The car even inspired an expression occasionally still in use for wonderful things today – it’s a doozy!
Following its launch in 1928 – ironically -

Tesla’s Model S is not just one of the best electric American cars, it is one of the best electric cars, period. This is a seriously impressive feat when you think about how new to making cars Tesla is (compared to marques such as Ford).

Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is the US equivalent of the Land Rover Defender. Its looks hark back to the Willys Jeep from World War II, but the latest iteration of this American icon was launched in 2019.
There’s talent to back up the rugged styling, as the four-wheel-drive machine’s off-road ability has to be tried to be believed. Whatever the terrain, the Wrangler will find grip, especially in top-spec Rubicon trim which features locking differentials in both axles. In addition to this, -

Police cars: the world's best and worst
A police car is supposed to strike fear and offer reassurance across the world, with citizens knowing that the police are out and about keeping the world a safer place. However, police cars can be quite dull and tedious. There are one or two exceptions, but for the most part, the world’s police officers are left with very uninspiring vehicles to use. Below we have rounded up some of the more interesting police-issue machines, though, featuring everything from the fast and cool to the just -
