The Muse Picasso in Paris plans to lend works to around 40 exhibitions in venues in Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Cyprus and Morocco that will present a full panorama of Picassos lifelong relationship with the Mediterranean, the museums director, Laurent Le Bon, tells us. Starting next year, to coincide with the centenary of Picassos 1917 journey to Italy, Picasso-Mditerrane will be a global exhibition experience including theatre, conferences, a website and a catalogue, Le Bon says.

Forgery scandal surrounding Lee Ufan’s work grows in Korea with three arrests
Three people, a pair of married art dealers and a painter, were arrested by the metropolitan police in Seoul, South Korea last week, for their suspected involvement in a counterfeiting ring, the Korea Time reports. They are accused of having produced and sold 40 fakes from two series by the artist Lee Ufan, From Point and From Line, between November 2012 and 2014. The two gallerists allegedly paid the painter 240,600 to forge the works, then sold them to a dealer for around 2.3m.An investigatio -
Giles Waterfield obituary
Director of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, exhibition organiser and historianGiles Waterfield, who has died aged 67 of a heart attack, was director of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, in south London, from 1979 to 1996, and turned it from a sad, neglected institution into the well displayed, intellectually active and socially pioneering museum it is today. Not a conventionally ambitious man, he chose to leave the gallery before its much praised remodelling was complete – it reopened after a five- -
Can Netflix Win Over Its Harshest Critics, That Is, Pretty Much Everyone In France?
France really, really does not like Netflix. But Netflix is like a particularly persistent puppy, and it keeps going back and back to France with new and different ideas (and big eyes and a wagging tail). Did it get things right this year? -
Boulder Ballet Tries A ‘Gentle’ Nutcracker For Audience Members With Autism
The Ballet, along with the Boulder Phil, is trying out a “sensory-friendly” ballet for kids and adults who may need to move or make sounds during the performance. Lights will be up at 35 percent, staff are on hand to answer questions, there’s a designated ‘quiet room’ and much more. -
Sharon Jones Of The Dap-Kings, Who Was ‘Too Short, Too Black, And Too Fat,’ Has Died At Age 60
She was a “powerhouse singer” who had to do things like work as an armed security guard at Wells Fargo to support herself before finally hitting it big as the leader of a soul revival – and then finding out she had pancreatic cancer. -
The German Government Stepped In To Save Thomas Mann’s House In Los Angeles
Wow, this is really pretty great: According to Germany’s foreign minister, the house will “be developed into a cultural center for debate over major trans-Atlantic issues, including migration, exile and integration. The house would also offer residency fellowships for artists and intellectuals.” -
The amazing undiscovered life of Audrey the artist
Film-maker Carol Morley uncovered a huge archive about a promising Royal Academy student whose life was changed by a mental breakdown. She describes her journey into Audrey Amiss’s worldAs I entered the rare materials room, a shaft of lamplight struck the bold wording: “Warning – this box is heavy when full.” Without even lifting it, I sensed the weight of the life inside. Audrey Amiss’s archive totals 80 boxes and includes 50,000 sketches as well as her paintings a -
David Tindle RA: A Retrospective review – lush yet spectral
Huddersfield Art Gallery
One of the finest figurative painters of his generation, David Tindle remains unknown to many. This retrospective is long overdueUnless you live there, or close by, Huddersfield isn’t particularly easy to reach. The journey by train from Wakefield can take up to 40 minutes, the puttering two-carriage engine that works this route no match at all for the town’s magnificent neoclassical station. But never mind. Who cares about bad connections and too-weak Costa -
Trump Supporters Call For A Hamilton Boycott (And Twitter Is Filled With The Gleeful Idea That People Can Finally Get Tickets)
Like the “Trump Starbucks” thing organized to buy punish Starbucks by buying coffee and asking for it to be under the name Trump, this appears to be going well. “Finally, there were, naturally, a handful of ‘Hamilton’-related Joe Biden memes that cropped up to join the Twitter fray.”
