Are collectors stupid to spend millions of dollars on a work of art without personally investigating its authenticity? This is what Robert Storr, the former dean of Yale University School of Art argues.
Storr was speaking at a panel hosted by Ifar (International Foundation for Art Research) in New York in July about the issues raised by the Knoedler fakes scandal, which resulted in the illustrious New York gallerys closure. Knoedler and its former director claim they were duped by the forgeries

Parviz Tanavoli unveils his largest ever work at Toronto’s Aga Khan museum
The leading Iranian artist Parviz Tanavoli, who faced a travel ban last month, has unveiled his largest ever sculpture at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. The bronze piece, Horizontal Lovers, is one of three works that will go on show in the grounds of the museum. Volume-wise, the work is the biggest I have ever made. It is around 13ft high, Tanavoli says.
Another vast sculpture in the show, Big Heech, made from stainless steel, is part of Tanavolis famous Heech series, the Farsi word and s -

When Works Of Art Come Apart (Or Get Knocked Down, In Banksy’s Case)
“Often, the issues can be traced back to the artists themselves. While painting’“The Last Supper’ in Milan in the 1490s, Leonardo da Vinci tried a number of oil-paint experiments, hoping to achieve better effects by painting on dry wall rather than on wet plaster. Within 20 years, the masterpiece was flaking off the wall, creating an ongoing headache as experts argued over which parts were authentic and which had been added by overzealous restorers.” -

How Many Decades Can A Woman Play The Ingenue On Broadway?
“I worked with my acting teacher Harold Guskin to help me create the edgiest possible performance. We found autoerotic, neurotic, nightmarish and subliminal obsessive layers everywhere in the plot. The morning after opening night, the word ‘lovely’ appeared twice in a review describing my character. I was ‘ever-lovely’ and in ‘lovely’ voice. Nothing else.” -
What It’s Like To Try To Play – But Not Caricature – The First Lady Of The United States

Max Ritvo Took The Poetry World By Storm, All While He Dealt With Terminal Cancer
“Over time, he said, his work had shifted ‘away from sort of ebullient death poetry and fighting poetry and poetry of, sort of, the bloods and the squirmies and the guts, and more toward trying to figure out what death is, and what my place in the world is.'” -
Why Are Adults Confused When Kids Totally Get It, Asks An Author
“We are at a crossroads, trying to figure out what’s next, and in order to get to the other side, we have to wade in the water. Perhaps, this is us reckoning with our muddy past, crossing over the River Jordan. Even some of the antiquated questions being asked, some of the objectionable books that are being published, might, oddly, be necessary blunders that bring us closer to becoming more human. Like our students.” -
When Teens Without Arts Opportunities Get To Do Shakespeare
“It’s not about being a great actor. … It’s about studying craft, deriving a sense of strength from that craft, and feeling that you’ve grown in some way. If students get anything from this program that they can apply to any other aspect of their lives, that’s a huge success for us.” -
Tate Britain project uses AI to pair contemporary photos with paintings
IK Prize-winning system matches images from the 24/7 news cycle with centuries-old artworks and presents them onlineSeated against a deep red backdrop, gazing intently at hand-held mirrors, two eunuchs in sparkling saris inspect their appearance before Raksha Bandhan celebrations in the red light district of Mumbai. The photograph from the Reuters news agency is an arresting contemporary scene, but a new Tate Britain project is aiming to inspire deeper reflections with images from its own collec -

It’s Me to the World review – you may have seen it here first
Modern Art Oxford
The gallery celebrates 50 trailblazing years with new work and old favourites by Richard Long, Marina Abramović and more. Just don’t touch anything…The opening gallery is empty of objects but filled with visions. Richard Long’s drawing in pale clay spreads out across the floor before you like a furrowed field or a corn maze, twisting back on itself in rectilinear patterns. The line forms a labyrinth, and you cannot help walking the line, taking a turn th -
Mr. Nobody’s Political Doctrine
If your remember that strange but astoundingly OK film with Jared Leto – that’s good but it’s not what we’re talking about right now. But since this paragraph is an introduction and i don’t feel like a want to write a proper introduction – let’s make a cold opening. Oh, wait. I already did it.
Here the opening paragraph ends and we jump into the article.
