Parviz Tanavoli on weaving together art and craft to make his woolen rugs
The Iranian artist Parviz Tanavoli, who was last week banned by Iranian authorities from travelling to London for a talk at the British Museum, speaks about his work from the 1960s and 1970s during a visit to London last year. The pieces were included in Tate Moderns The World Goes Pop (17 September 2015-24 January 2016) exhibition.

Helena Newman named chairman of Sotheby’s Europe in staff restructure
The staff reshuffle at Sothebys continues with the announcement that Helena Newman, the auction houses worldwide co-head of Impressionist and Modern, will also assume the role of chairman of Sothebys Europe, joining fellow chairmen Oliver Barker, Mario Tavella and Philipp Wrttemberg. Newman conducted the Impressionist and Modern sale at Sothebys London on 21 June; she is only the second woman ever to take an evening sale, the first one being Melanie Clore, also at Sothebys, in 1990. -
