Albert Oehlen: 'There's something hysterical about magenta'
Fuelled by beer and speed, Albert Oehlen ran riot through the Berlin art world. He made intentionally bad paintings, worked only in grey, and was even anti-art altogether. Russia’s first-ever Frida Kahlo retrospective has opened in St Petersburg at billionaire Viktor Vekselberg’s private Faberge Museum. And the Russian crowds have come out in force to see the work of the Mexican artist, wife of Diego Rivera and one-time lover of the Bolshevik revolutionary Leon Trotsky installed in the opulent ballroom of the former tsarist Shuvalov Palace.

Damnation, Dante and decadence: why Eugène Delacroix is making a hero’s return
From Van Gogh to Cézanne to Picasso, Delacroix was revered by the very artists who would come to overshadow him. Now his pessimistic vision looks set for critical acclaim once againEugène Delacroix today holds, for many people, a somewhat peripheral place in the pantheon of 19th-century artists. That he was a powerful influence on the likes of Manet, the impressionists and Seurat is taken for granted, but so too is the idea that they went on to outstrip him. For the poet and art cr -

Setting My Soul Free by Jennifer Kim
When i learnt to let go,
It was like breaking out through a corned bush,
It seemed scary and undaring,
I thought of how the thorns would bruise my skin,
But then again staying inside the corned bush,
I felt alone and broken,
I then thought of the freedom, joy and happiness that was just a corn fence away,
And in that moment i went through,
I never felt the pain of the bruises because what drove me was of much more power in the inside
Than what i felt on the outside and now with all these bruises
