Eileen Gu's New Pro Model Ski Graphic Is Here—First Look
Faction Skis has released a limited-edition graphic celebrating one of their most successful and loved skiers—Eileen Gu.
Gu, who has been with the brand since she was just 16 years old, is no stranger to incorporating style into her skiing in every sense. In honor of an Olympic year for the star park skier, Faction has released a ski to match.
Faction has released two skis: the Studio 0 Gu and Prodigy 1 GU. The skis' graphics pay homage to Gu's roots and the Chinese Zodiac, in which 2025 i

The Joke-Cracking, Powder-Slaying Cops of Truckee, California
It’s a spring day, and I’m waiting for a snowboarder with a cop mustache at the base of the Funitel at Palisades Tahoe.
When Pete Mann rolls up in a nondescript black hoodie, he’s easy to spot. In the ski town of Truckee, Mann, a California Highway Patrol officer, is everyone’s favorite cop. He’s laid-back, funny, and if he pulls you over, he’ll ask how you’re doing in a tone that suggests he actually cares. When a new person joins the force, Mann will t

New 'Apple Cable Car' Is Inspired by Ski Lifts
Ski lift manufacturer Leitner has expanded its lift-making expertise to carry more than just people up and down mountains.
The company partnered up with renowned Italian apple growers, Melinda Val Di Non, to install a cable car dedicated to transporting apples in Val Di Non, Italy.
Melinda Val Di Non apples refer to a trademark created to identify apples originating from the region and to protect the small-scale local farmers who grow the vast majority of these fruits, all using the same product

This New Game Lets You Build Your Own Ski Resort From Scratch
If you’re anything like me, you have, at some point, looked up at an unmanicured mountainscape and thought, “How cool would it be if there were a chairlift up there?”The risk of disturbing wilderness areas and the enormous cost of chairlifts put an obvious damper on those dreams. We can’t go around plopping down ropeways willy-nilly. But a new video game that recently hit Kickstarter aims to make that fantasy real, at least on a screen. Fittingly called Skingdom

Sweet Protection Marks 25 Years With Hydro-Dipped "Block Party” Helmets and Goggles
Some brand origin stories are cool, and some brand stories revolve around a crew of misfits who built illegal skateboard ramps and kayaks together in the woods of Trysil, Norway while listening to hard rock. Now that's cool. It's a story of a brand built to answer a problem of unavailable specialized gear for boating, skiing, and biking (the mountain town trifecta?) by a group of passionate athletes and designers.I've been a fan Sweet Protection's bike and ski helmets and goggles for quite a few
  • Why Ski Season Hits Harder the Older You Get

Why Ski Season Hits Harder the Older You Get
The alarm dutifully sounds as the dark, cold, and quiet hour of 5:00am comes to pass. Going to bed last night, the sky could not have been more full of snow. And it kept falling. Nearly two feet of fresh powder lies on the deck and in the driveway; who knows how much fell four thousand feet higher in the mountains. I gently wake my wife as I arise, hurrying in the lightless room to put on gloves, jacket, hat, ski pants. With little time to spare, the snowblower fires right up. The driveway is has

This Breckenridge Ski Patroller Built a Haven for Local Ski Culture
Ski shops mean different things to different people. They might, for example, be the place where you stumbled across a copy of your new favorite magazine, glanced at the glossy photos, and decided to dedicate the rest of your life to skiing. Maybe, instead, a curmudgeony old ski tech taught you how to perfectly tune ski edges while enchanting you with stories of the “good old days.” Perhaps working at a ski shop gave you a steep pro-form discount on some sparkly new sticks. To Sa

The Best Ski Width According To POWDER Readers
There's no use dancing around it—I've got a hot take that's been stewing for quite some time now, and the more I think about it, the more I realize it's a hill I will die on.
