  A Tennessee ski area is offering free lift tickets to women in celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports day. On Wednesday February 5, female skiers and snowboarders will receive a free lift ticket at Ober Mountain in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.Ober Mountain is open for skiing from Noon till 9pm on weekdays, so participating guests will receive a ticket for the full duration of the ski day. • Fatal Avalanche Claims Snowmobiler in Utah

  On February 3, 2025, a man was killed in an avalanche while snowmobiling in Utah's Monte Cristo area. The man was a 37-year-old from Evanston, Wyoming. He had been snowmobiling in  in the Whiskey Hill - Beer Hill area of Curtis Creek near the Rich and Cache county line when he was caught in a large slab avalanche.   Brundage Mountain Resort, Idaho, has surpassed 200 inches of seasonal snowfall more than a month before it did last winter. During the 2023-2024 ski season, the ski area crossed the 200-inch threshold in mid-March.At Brundage Mountain Resort — and other ski areas throughout the West — the snow has been piling up since the end of last week.
