Picture this: you’re at a ski film premiere, you’ve gotten your poster signed by your favorite athlete, you grabbed a free t-shirt someone threw in the audience, and now you’ve settled into watching *insert production company’s* latest flick in all its glory on the big screen with a great sound system.

Why Did Google Remove Ski Lifts, Trails from Maps?
Eagle-eyed skiers may have noticed that Google Maps, at least at major North American ski resorts, no longer features ski trails and lifts as it once did in the past. The apparent absence, which we confirmed by checking a few ski areas on Google Maps—like Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Whistler Blackcomb, and Park City Mountain Resort—sparked a recent Change.org petition.“As a skiing enthusiast and tourism professional, I passionately believe that ski lifts and cableways are far

Avalanche Chases Snowboarder Down Tuckerman Ravine, New Hampshire
Just because it’s the beginning of the season doesn’t mean there’s not enough snow for avalanches.
Mount Washington Avalanche Center (MWAC) shared a video earlier this week that proves just that. You can watch a snowboarder break off a not-insignificant wind slab into some funnel shaped terrain. Luckily, it looks like the snowboarder was able to ride out ahead of most of the debris and avoid getting buried.

Shuttered Ski Area Near Yellowstone Hits Market for $500k
Sleeping Giant, a small ski area near Cody, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park has hit the market for $500,000.As far as ski area sales go, Sleeping Giant is a steal. The ski area costs less than many homes in the resort town of Jackson, Wyoming. According to Zillow, the average Jackson home value is $2,026,346. However, the ski area operates via a Forest Service land lease, so the sale only includes Sleeping Giant's infrastructure. The ski area's owner, Nick Piazza, told the Cowboy State Dai

Bozeman Skiers Release Highly-Acclaimed Indie Film for Free on YouTube
While the components to a quality short ski film aren’t rocket science, executing them well is no easy task. Bozeman-based ski crew Entourage seems to have nailed it in their latest film, which was released for free on YouTube in November.
Soda follows a handful of young shredders from the Montana backcountry to the sunny spring slopes of Mt. Hood to a bunch of random parking lots, because what would a park edit be without some street skiing?

Come one, come all and feast your eyes on a new film by British Columbia based filmmaker, Joey Kraft.
Standing just under twenty minutes in length, the film features the skiing of seven different athletes with about as much variety in terrain as you can pack into the fast-paced run time. Dry has a double chair, a T-bar and a magic carpet serving 7 » Read More »

Tree Falls on Chairlift at Oregon Ski Area, Causing Delay
Trees are great. They’re fun to ski through (unless they’re too tight), but sometimes, as with Mt. Ashland Ski Area, Oregon, they cause problems. The ski hill recently shared that a tree fell on the eighth tower of its Ariel Chairlift in late November. The clean up required the involvement of tree removal specialists and Mt. Ashland’s mountain operations team. All told, it took 11 hours. While the tree is now gone, the Ariel Chairlift’s opening is delayed. “Insuranc
