    Over the weekend, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) issued a field report describing an avalanche that occurred in southwestern Colorado near Silverton. It's the first skier-triggered avalanche reported by the CAIC in Colorado this season.Both skiers rode away safely from the incident.     The first storm of the season proved to be fruitful for Wolf Creek Ski Area located in southern Colorado. A whopping 26 inches of snow fell on the ski area from October 17-20, 2024.Thanks to the storm, Wolf Creek is kicking off their 85th season tomorrow, October 22, 2024.
