  Ski Portillo—a world-renowned Chilean ski resort—will open nearly a month earlier than planned on June 1st thanks to an ample serving of early-season snow. Almost six feet of fresh powder has fallen.Ahead of the resort's original opening date, June 22nd, Portillo will stick to a weekends-only schedule, spinning its lifts on June 1st, June 2nd, June 8th, June 9th, June 15th, and June 16th.   Valle Nevado, or "snowy valley" in Spanish, is located in the Chilean Andes and serves as the summer training ground for Olympic ski and snowboard teams from the Northern Hemisphere. This season, the resort is opening slightly earlier than normal. Thanks to a snowstorm that blew in last week, the resort now has 4 feet of snow and will be opening on Friday, May 31st, according to a recent update posted to their Instagram.
