    A’s Place Tyler Soderstrom On 10-Day IL Due To Hip Impingement
    Prior to today’s game with the Rangers, the Athletics announced that Tyler Soderstrom has been placed (retroactive to August 15) on the 10-day injured list due to a left hip impingement.  Infielder Darell Hernaiz was called up from Triple-A in the corresponding move.
    This is now the second time in the last two months that Soderstrom has been sidelined by this same hip injury, as his previous IL stint on June 28 kept the left fielder out of action for just the minimum 10 days.  A&

    Athletics Claim Joe Rock From White Sox
    The A’s announced this afternoon that they’ve claimed left-hander Joe Rock off waivers from the White Sox. They quickly optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. To clear a 40-man roster spot for Rock, the team transferred right-hander Justin Sterner to the 60-day injured list.

    Luis Severino Likely Out For Rest Of Season
    Athletics manager Mark Kotsay provided an unfortunate update on injured right-hander Luis Severino yesterday. Kotsay told reporters, including Martín Gallegos of MLB.com, that he doesn’t expect Severino to pitch again this season, as there is not enough time in his throwing program to fully build up.
    Severino hit the 15-day injured list at the end of May with a strain of his shoulder capsule and subscapularis muscle. That pointed toward a long-term absence, and he was unsurprisingly
