  The Mets have released right-hander Adbert Alzolay, according to his transactions tracker at MLB.com. He had been pitching for Triple-A Syracuse but is now a free agent and can sign with any club.
  Alzolay, 31, had a breakout with the Cubs in 2023. He pitched 64 innings for the Cubs, allowing 2.67 earned runs per nine.   The Mets announced that they have selected left-hander Jefry Yan to their 40-man roster and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse. That usually indicates the player had some kind of opt-out or upward mobility clause in his contract. The Mets had two 40-man vacancies, so Yan can fill one of those without a corresponding move.
