    1 dead, 1 arrested for DUI after northwest crash
    TUCSON – Pima County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a
    fatal pedestrian collision Wednesday.
    Deputies were dispatched to La Cholla Boulevard, south of
    Fountains Avenue for reports of a collision involving a pedestrian at
    approximately 6:15 a.m.
    Upon arrival, deputies learned that a pedestrian, later identified as Geoffrey Velez, 20, had been struck by a vehicle.
    The victim was pronounced dead on scene after lifesaving efforts were made, according to PCSD.
