RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The last living worker who helped construct Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota’s Black Hills has died.
Donald “Nick” Clifford of Keystone, South Dakota, was 98. His wife, Carolyn Clifford, says he died Saturday at a hospice in Rapid City.
At 17, Nick Clifford was the youngest worker hired to work at Mount Rushmore. He operated a winch that carried workers up and down the mountain where the faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas

DESOTO, Texas (AP) — Doris Stevens has wondered what happened to her adult son since he stopped answering her phone calls in 2016.

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say an inmate who escaped from a west Phoenix jail has been taken back into custody.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Katrina Celaya escaped from the Estrella Jail on Friday by leaving through an open sliding door and climbing over a barbed wire fence.
Officers who saw Celaya running took her into custody.
Celaya, who has earlier convictions for possession of drug paraphernalia, was in jail on a probation violation.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Three men incarcerated for 36 years in Maryland have been exonerated in the slaying of a Baltimore teenager.
A circuit judge on Monday granted the request from Baltimore’s top prosecutor to release Alfred Chestnut, Ransom Watkins and Andrew Stewart.
The men were arrested in the November 1983 slaying of 14-year-old DeWitt Duckett. The teenager was accosted over his Georgetown jacket and shot in the neck while walking to class at a Baltimore school.

3 injured in Cincinnati after partial building collapse
CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say at least three people have been injured in Cincinnati after part of a building under construction collapsed.
Cincinnati Fire Chief Roy Winston said three people on the structure’s fifth floor were injured when part of the building collapsed Monday afternoon after workers on the sixth floor started pouring concrete.
Winston said one worker had minor injuries and the other two had more serious injuries. He said all were in stable condition.

Last living Mount Rushmore construction worker dies at 98
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The last living worker who helped construct Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota’s Black Hills has died.
Donald “Nick” Clifford of Keystone, South Dakota, was 98. His wife, Carolyn Clifford, says he died Saturday at a hospice in Rapid City.

PCSD identifies suspect of officer-involved shooting
TUCSON – The suspect involved in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday has been identified as 26-year-old James Ochoa, according to a PCSD press release.Ochoa was booked into Pima County Adult Detention Complex on multiple Domestic Violence related charges, and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
The deputy involved in the incident was Deputy Jaqueline Deen.
