    HOLLANDSBURG, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed when a van car crashed into a horse-drawn buggy in western Indiana.
    The Parke County Sheriff’s Department says an Amish family of four was traveling along U.S. 36 in a horse-drawn buggy Saturday morning when it was struck from the rear by the van.     Rudy Boesch, a retired tough-as-nails Navy SEAL and fan favorite on the inaugural season of “Survivor,” has died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 91.
    Director of operations for the Seal Veterans Foundation, Steve Gonzalez, said Boesch died peacefully Friday night in hospice care in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was surrounded by loved ones.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jalen Leary ran for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter for the win as Stetson edged Jacksonville 27-24 on Saturday.
    The Hatters (6-2, 3-2 Pioneer League) trailed 24-20 when Leary capped a 69-yard drive with a 29-yard run with 7:06 remaining for the final score. Jacksonville missed a field goal attempt from 53 yards with 1:20 left and the Hatters ran out the clock.

    MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Jack Cook threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores, Jake Chisholm ran for 268 yards and had two touchdowns and Dayton scored on four of its first six possessions to beat Morehead State 49-35 on Saturday.
    Chisholm’s 268 yards on 35 carries is the second best single-game rushing performance in Dayton history.

    BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Connor Degenhardt threw for one touchdown and ran for another and Holy Cross held on for a 24-17 win over Lehigh in a battle of Patriot League leaders on Saturday.

  • Man gets home detention in case where 2 judges were shot

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty in a May fight during which two judges were shot in downtown Indianapolis has been sentenced to home detention.
    Alfredo Vazquez pleaded guilty Friday to one misdemeanor battery count.
    A Marion County judge then sentenced the 24-year-old to 180 days of home detention and a year of probation for violating probation on a previous drunken driving conviction.
