    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Barron Hilton, a hotel magnate who expanded his father’s chain and became a founding owner in the American Football League, has died. He was 91. Hilton’s family says he died Thursday of natural causes in his Long Angeles home. He transformed Hilton into the industry’s top brand during his 30 years as its chief executive.
    Hilton also founded the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFL and oversaw the AFL-NFL merger.

    FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) — An 18-year-old Army recruit at Fort Jackson in South Carolina has died before a training exercise.
    Fort Jackson spokesman Patrick Jones said in a statement that the recruit died Friday while preparing for outdoor physical training with his battalion.
    When the recruit showed signs of distress, Fort Jackson medical personnel immediately transported him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Jones says hospital staff reported that the death was not heat-related.

    WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Authorities in northwest Poland are mulling the evacuation of some 42,000 people after a giant British World War II seismic bomb was found buried in the waterway leading to the port of Szczecin.

    PHOENIX (AP) – Phoenix police and Fire Department hazardous materials crews have responded to a post office where authorities say a package reportedly exploded Saturday, exposing three workers to an unknown chemical.
    Fire Capt. Danny Gile says personnel are investigating the substance and that the three postal workers are being evaluated.

    SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Padres have fired Andy Green in the midst of a season-ending collapse.
