    NOGALES, Ariz. – A class of contaminants, known as PFAS, that has been found in water and the operations of a wastewater treatment plant in Nogales, Sonora will be the focus of the next public meeting of the Southeast Arizona Citizens Forum of the U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission.
    The public meeting will take place on Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Nogales City Hall Council Chambers.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A female moose looked like she was trying out for running back as she loped across a football practice field at the University of North Dakota.
    University spokesman David Dodds says the moose wandered into Grand Forks overnight and found its way onto old Memorial Stadium on campus Tuesday morning.

    TSAILE, Ariz. (AP) — Researchers at the University of Arizona and Dine (dih-NEH’) College are partnering to try to get more Navajo students into biomedical sciences.
    The schools recently were awarded a $1.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.

  • At least 60 Grand Canyon bison to be moved to tribe land

    GRAND CANYON, Ariz. – With bison herd sizes growing, Grand Canyon National Park officials announced they will be extracting some bison from the North Rim.
    During the pilot phase of this new program, 60 to 100 animals will be cleared out from the park through live capture and removal.
    Bison selected for removal will be transported to the InterTribal Buffalo Council. The council will then distribute the bison to smaller herds who live on land that belong to Native American tribes.
