  • Bomb blast kills Pakistani tribal elder near Afghan border

    PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani police say a pro-government tribal elder has been killed by a bomb planted in his vehicle in the country’s northwest, near the Afghan border.
    Senior officer Mian Naseeb Jan said Sunday’s explosion killed four others and wounded six as they were traveling in the Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He said the bomb was likely detonated remotely.
    The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

  • Pedestrian killed in hit and run on the Tucson’s west side

    Tucson Police Dept. says a pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit and run on Saturday.
    Officers responded to reports of a serious injury collision involving a pedestrian near 1st Ave. and Kelso.
    Arriving at the scene authorities found an unresponsive female in the street.
    The woman was being treated by other motorists who had stopped to help but was pronounced dead at the scene.
    Authorities have identified the woman as 40-year-old Robyn Gmyrek.
