TUCSON – To help combat an emergency blood shortage, American Red Cross clinics across southern Arizona will be giving out $5 Amazon Gift Cards to anyone who donates blood or platelets starting Monday.
According to officials, the Red Cross currently has less than a three-day supply of most blood types – with even less than a two-day supply for type-O blood. To help increase donations, Amazon has teamed up with Red Cross to offer $5 gift cards to Red Cross donators through Aug. 29.

PHOENIX (AP) — Lawyers for a Mexican immigrant charged with murder in the 2015 killing of a convenience store clerk are urging the Arizona Court of Appeals to reject an effort by prosecutors to seek the death penalty.
