    MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WVTM) – Under a bill recently passed by Alabama lawmakers, a court would order chemical castration for someone convicted of a sex crime against a child under the age of 13.
    According to the legislation, the Department of Public Health would give medication that reduces or blocks the production of testosterone or hormones.

    PROVO, Utah (AP) — A puppy and its 43-year-old owner are recovering after getting trapped in a garbage truck.
    Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King said Tuesday officers rescued the man and his puppy after they got caught by the truck’s compactor mechanism. The unidentified man and puppy were sleeping in a dumpster when the truck collected and compacted the bin’s contents with them still inside.

    HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A judge has approved an agreement for Exxon Mobil Corp. to pay $1.05 million to settle federal pollution violations over a 2011 pipeline break that sent oil into Montana’s Yellowstone River.

    GROVE CITY, Ohio (AP) — Health officials in Ohio say 10 people have now been diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease amid an outbreak at a recently opened hospital near Columbus.
    Franklin County’s health department said Tuesday that’s up from seven. One of those patients died Sunday.
