• Man gets 60 years for impregnating 11-year-old in Texas

    PLANO, Texas (AP) — A Dallas-area man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after impregnating an 11-year-old girl.
    Collin County prosecutors said in a statement Friday that 37-year-old Roli Lopez-Sanchez of Plano had been found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child. He won’t be eligible for parole or good time credit.
    Prosecutors say medical workers notified police in February 2018 after the pregnant victim came to their office.

    MILWAUKEE (AP) — Authorities have charged a 30-year-old Cudahy woman with reckless homicide after her 14-day-old baby died from a dose of methadone.   • 5 children ejected from minivan, killed in Maryland wreck

    BOWIE, Md. (AP) — Maryland authorities say they’re investigating a crash that killed five children who were ejected from a minivan. Two adults were also injured.
    Maryland State Police troopers say in a news release that the single-vehicle crash happened before 5 a.m. Saturday on northbound Route 301 in Prince George’s County.

  • Puppy found with rubber bands tied around his ankles on the road to recovery

    PHOENIX (KPNX) — A puppy is making fast progress in his recovery after he was found with rubber bands tied around his ankles.
    According to the Arizona Humane Society’s Facebook post, a good Samaritan brought a 6-week-old puppy in last week after finding him. His feet were so swollen he had difficulty walking.
    The puppy, whom shelter staff named Little Foot, was treated with daily laser therapy and warm compress massages to improve the circulation in his paws.

    NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Jalen Pickett scored all 17 of his points in the second half and Siena rallied to defeat Iona 56-54 on Saturday.

    WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Kyle Leufroy scored 22 points, Jordan Cohen added 18 and Lehigh rallied from 18 points down in the second half on Saturday to defeat Army 75-70, scoring the last seven points of the game.
