    LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Sam Ehlinger threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score, and No. 11 Texas held off Kansas 24-17 on Friday to clinch a spot in the Big 12 title game.

  • Former CIA chief Michael Hayden hospitalized after stroke

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Former CIA Director Michael Hayden has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke earlier this week.
    A statement released Friday by Hayden’s family says he is “receiving expert medical care.”
    Hayden, who is 73 and a retired Air Force general, led the CIA under President George W. Bush from 2006 to early 2009. He was also director of the National Security Agency from 1999 to 2005.

    LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Elijah Cuffee scored a career-high 15 points — all in the first half — and Keenan Gumbs added 11 points to pace Liberty past Alcorn State 76-54 on Friday in the Commodore Classic.
    Liberty opened the game making 5 of 8 3-pointers and leading 29-16. Cuffee made all six of his first-half shots and Liberty had a 37-25 lead at the break after shooting 62 percent. He attempted two shots in the second half as the Flames’ defense held the Braves to 29 points
  • FIFA’s Infantino gets election support from CONMEBOL

    BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — The 10-member South American soccer governing body says it is backing FIFA President Gianni Infantino for re-election.
    The CONMEBOL executive committee unanimously agreed on Friday to ratify its support for Infantino for the 2019 election.
    Infantino was present during CONMEBOL’s meeting in Buenos Aires. He will also attend the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate on Saturday.
