• 3 Minors Linked To Nut Tree Village Burglaries Arrested After Chase, Crash In Vacaville

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) – Officers have arrested a group of suspects believed to be linked to a string of burglaries in the Nut Tree Village neighborhood.
    Vacaville police say, around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the neighborhood to investigate a reported car burglary. Officers got to the scene just in time to see a silver Honda Civic speeding down East Monte Vista Avenue without its headlights on.

  • Placer SPCA Takes In 10 Dogs Evacuated Due To Hurricane Michael

    ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Several dogs evacuated out of shelters affected by Hurricane Michael are on their way to Placer County.
    The Placer SPCA says they’ve partnered with the San Diego Humane Society to help clear up space after many displaced dogs were flown to California after the hurricane hit the Florida panhandle.
    Placer SPCA staff and volunteers went down to Kettleman City to pick up 10 dogs.
    The dogs will first be given medical and behavioral screening before they’re put up
  • Former NFL Player, Sacramento Standout Rae Carruth Released From Prison

    Clinton, N.C. (CBS13) – Former NFL wide receiver Rae Carruth is a free man.
    The 44-year-old was released from prison in North Carolina Monday morning after serving more than 18 years for conspiring to murder the mother of his unborn child.
    Carruth did not speak to reporters as he left prison early Monday morning.
    A former Valley High School standout who went on to be a first-round pick for the Carolina Panthers, Carruth was found guilty of plotting to kill Cherica Adams in a November 1999

  • Good Samaritan Pulls Three Passengers Out Of Burning Truck

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Racing toward the flames, a good samaritan pulled three victims out of a fiery crash Sunday morning in Elk Grove. The truck crashed into a tree on a tree on Laguna Boulevard near Babson Drive.
    The vehicle burst into flames, trapping the passengers inside when a neighbor jumped into action.
    With no hesitation or fear for his own life, Jeff Garrett darted toward the truck engulfed in flames outside of his home.

  • New Law Allows Criminal To Petition For Parole 20 Years After Murdering Best Friend

    COLUSA (CBS13) — Colusa is rallying behind the family of a teen murdered two decades ago, Erik Ingebretsen.
    Erik was 16 years old when his best friends murdered him in 1997, leaving his body in a field. One of the killers, Nathan Ramazzini, was under 18 at the time and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Ramazzini is now 38.
    Because he was a minor, Proposition 57 which passed in Nov. 2016 and was adopted into law in May 2018, is letting Ramazzini petition to be paroled.

  • Placer County Sheriff’s Dive Team Participates In Underwater Training

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — The Placer County Sheriff’s dive team participated in an underwater training program to help support research for team design for astronauts and space tourists.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — New information has surfaced in the case of Candice De Anda, the young mother found dead in Del Paso Heights.
    A man named Eddie Tillman, the name of De Anda’s husband, has been booked in the Sacramento County Jail on homicide and domestic violence charges. While police are not confirming that De Anda’s husband was involved in the case, the booking matches her husband’s name and birth year.

    DAVIS (CBS13) — An unknown suspect robbed the Bank of America at 325 E. St in Davis, according to police.
    The incident happened on Friday when officers said they responded to a robbery alarm at the bank. While officers were on their way to the location, they reportedly spoke to the manager on the phone who said they were just robbed.
    Police said the suspect passed a note to a teller demanding money then grabbed the money and left the bank on foot.

  • Victim Identified In Davis Homicide, 35-Year-Old Jamie Kinseth

    DAVIS (CBS13) — The Yolo County Coroner’s office confirmed Sunday that the victim in the early morning homicide Saturday was Jamie 35-year-old Jamie Bryan Thomas Kinseth of Davis.
    Kinseth was killed Saturday after being shot around 7 a.m. on F Street.
    Police questioned and arrested 29-year-old Hayley Katherine Gilligan on charges of homicide. Gilligan was taken to the Yolo County jail.
    One UC Davis student lives in the complex where it happened and said the gunshot woke her up.
