    SACRAMENTO (AP) — Authorities say most of the 17 California state firefighter cadets fired for drinking during training will be reinstated.
    The Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday that 10 of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection cadets will serve suspensions rather than losing their jobs.

  • Man, 31, Found Shot And Killed In His Tuolumne County Pot Garden

    JUPITER (CBS13) – Authorities in Tuolumne County are investigating after a man was shot and killed in a marijuana garden.
    The incident happened at a residence on Italian Bar Road, near Rose Creek, late Tuesday night. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the scene around 10 p.m. to investigate a reported a shooting.
    A man, 31-year-old Andrew Rockey, was soon found dead in a marijuana garden at the property, deputies say.

    NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – Authorities are investigating a shooting involving at least one victim late Tuesday night in Sacramento.
    Sacramento police say the shooting happened within city limits, but it’s unclear exactly what time.

    PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) – Deputies have arrested the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at an auto repair shop in Auburn.
    Investigators say 41-year-old Joseph De La Cruz got into an argument at a Quick Lube location on Margarite Mine Road Tuesday afternoon and opened fire, hitting one of the shop’s employees.

    YUBA CITY (CBS13) – Police in Yuba City say a disabled veteran’s dog who was stolen earlier this week has been found safe.
    Authorities say the man’s van was taken on Sunday with his dog Reo inside.
    The van was later found in Yuba County in bad shape – and Reo was nowhere to be found.

  • 911 Text Message System Debuts In Sacramento County

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Starting Wednesday, people in Sacramento County will be able to send 9-1-1 text messages to local dispatch centers.
    The new system comes online just a week after non-emergency phone lines were shut down for more than 12 hours.
    The public was still able to call 9-1-1 and even contact police through the Sac PD app, but other areas of the county didn’t have that kind of resource.
    Now people can reach agencies over text if the phone line is ever down again.

    The owner of Adrian Blanco Jewelry says the thieves got away with multiple watches and other jewelry displays from the store.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Thieves ransacked a truck full of clothing and shoes, leaving a Midtown Sacramento business owner out thousands of dollars.
    Identity Boutique owner Stephanie Bozzalla says her truck was eventually found a few miles away from where it was stolen, but many items were missing.

    CERES (CBS13) — A woman who may have been run over by a vehicle was found dead in a Kmart parking lot in Ceres on Saturday.
    The woman was found in the parking lot of the Kmart on Hatch Road and was pronounced dead at the scene.
