  • Veteran Skydiver Who Died After Parachute Failure Identified

    LODI (CBS13) – The skydiver who died at the Lodi Parachute Center over the weekend has been identified.
    The center says 62-year-old Nina Mason, Colorado resident, was the parachutist killed in the accident. She was jumping with her husband and the pair were well-known at the center, having jumped out of Lodi several times.
    It’s the fifth parachuting death in the past three years involving skydivers launching from the facility in Acampo.

  • Florin Road Sears, One Of The Last Remnants Of The Florin Mall, To Close

    (CNN) — Sears and Kmart’s parent company filed for bankruptcy, and it plans to close 142 of its worst-performing stores.
    The company has already closed hundreds of stores this year, and it could close even more location as the bankruptcy process proceeds. Only 700 Sears and Kmart stores are currently open.
    Liquidation sales at the following stores will begin “within two weeks,” according to Sears’ bankruptcy filing.

  • Woman, 69, Killed In Stockton Double Shooting; Suspect Arrested

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – Authorities have arrested 30-year-old Forrest Gilliam in connection to the double shooting in Stockton that killed an elderly woman.
    The shooting happened Sunday morning in the area of Rose Street.
    Stockton police say they found a man and woman shot.
    The 69-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released at this point.
    Gilliam was booked in the San Joaquin County Jail and is now facing homicide charges.
