  FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) – A 33-year-old San Francisco-area man is dead after being struck by a big-rig nearly seven hours into the new year.
  California Highway Patrol officials say dispatch started receiving calls around 6:25 a.m. Friday of a man acting oddly along an interstate highway.
  Authorities say the man had left his disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 80. He was trying to cross traffic lanes when a tractor-trailer struck him around 6:41 a.m.
