  • Man Sentenced To Year In Prison For Smuggling Endangered Turtles To China From Penn State

    HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A Chinese man who authorities say helped smuggle nearly 80 endangered box turtles out of the U.S. while attending a Pennsylvania college has been sentenced to a year in prison.
    Haixi Sheng was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded guilty last year to smuggling goods from the United States.

    COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A federal appeals court has upheld a judge’s decision to put on hold an Ohio law prohibiting doctors from performing abortions based on a fetal diagnosis of Down syndrome.
    The 2-1 ruling Friday from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati says the law passed in 2017 is likely unconstitutional.
