    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Pirates brought on two new special assistants over the weekend.
    Jeff Banister and David Eckstein were both hired as baseball operations special assistants.
    Banister was a member of the Pirates organization for 29 seasons, most recently serving as the bench coach from August 2010 through the 2014 season. Banister then left the Pirates and spent four seasons as the manager of the Texas Rangers.

    STRIP DISTRICT (KDKA) — Two people were injured in a crash in the Strip District on Sunday.
    It happened just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 16th Street.
    According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, a driver ran a red light, causing a two-vehicle crash.
    Two people were sent to a local hospital in stable condition with minor to moderate injuries.
    The driver who ran the red light was cited. That person was not injured.

    Boy hurt after being struck by vehicle in Squirrel Hill
    Police responded around 2 pm to a report of a child vs car accident on Shady near Alderdice. An 11-yo male was transported to the hospital in stable condition with a possible broken ankle.
    The driver stayed on scene. No charges at this time.
    Police are investigating. Preliminary investigation suggests the child may have run into the street and hit the side of the vehicle.

    Crews were sent to a three-story structure on Wall Avenue between Wood Street and Eleanor Street just before 4 a.m.
    Pitcairn Police Chief Scott Farally says there were two apartment units in the building, but only the first floor was occupied.

    Pennsylvania State Police put out a statewide alert about 83-year-old Athanasius Kartsotis late Saturday night. They say Kartsotis is missing and endangered.

    The thief was caught on surveillance footage at Wahila Creative’s offices on North Whitfield Street in East Liberty around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
    According to employees, the “unwelcomed visitor” was in the offices for about two hours and stole numerous cameras, electronics, cell phones, money, cans of soda and even a pair of slippers.
