• Mistrial Declared In Westmoreland Co. Sheriff’s Corruption Trial

  GREENSBURG (KDKA) — A mistrial has been declared in Westmoreland County Sheriff Jonathan Held‘s corruption trial.
  Initially, the jury announced a unanimous guilty verdict around 5 p.m., but upon pooling the jurors, one juror said he disagreed with the verdict. The judge then sent the jury back to deliberate.
  Around 5:45 p.m., the jury returned to the courtroom and said they were unable to reach a verdict. The judge then declared a mistrial.

• PennDOT Announces Overnight Fort Pitt Tunnel Closures

  PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — There will be overnight closures in the Fort Pitt Tunnel next week.
  The tunnel will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. so crews can conduct inspection activities.
  PennDOT says the outbound (westbound) tunnel will be closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The inbound (eastbound) tunnel will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

  On Friday, after hearing all of the prosecution’s evidence, the judge dismissed a theft charge that had been brought against the sheriff because the prosecution did not prove it occurred.
