    In the statement, Pennsylvania’s bishops say they recognize their responsibility to help sexual abuse survivors who cannot pursue civil claims.

    MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) – Police say a West Virginia mother arrested and charged with murder had intended to kill both her daughters and take her own life.
    Julie Ann Orellana’s 8-year-old daughter, Eliza, was found dead of gunshot wounds on Thursday, and her 11-year-old daughter Olivia was wounded in the shooting.
    Court records show the 46-year-old Orellana has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

    HARRISON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that happened in Harrison Township early Friday morning.

    The Westmoreland County coroner’s office says 74-year-old Michael P. Kent, of Ligonier Township, was driving an ATV in a wooded area behind his home on Grouse Point.

    HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate hit a nearly two-decade low in August, even as payrolls slipped below July’s record high.
    The state Department of Labor and Industry said Friday that Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.1 percent in August, the lowest point since 2000.
