    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco will be out for the remainder of the season after sustaining injuries in Friday night’s game.
    Polanco left Friday night’s game with left shoulder and left knee discomfort in the sixth inning after sliding into second base.
    The team announced Saturday that Polanco suffered a significant bone bruise in his left knee that will require six-to-eight weeks of rest and rehabilitation.

    MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Florence is becoming a “better organized” weather system that will likely strengthen into a hurricane late Saturday, weather forecasters said.
    The National Hurricane Center said Saturday the storm was expected to become a “major hurricane” by Tuesday as it passes between Bermuda and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday. The storm is expected to approach the southeast U.S. Coast on Thursday.

  • Homeowner Helps Keep Fire In McKees Rocks Under Control With Garden Hose

    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A fire caused significant damage to the back porch of a residence in McKees Rocks on Saturday.
    The fire occurred at the home on the corner of Grove and Third Streets.

    The homeowner is actually credited with keeping the blaze under control with a garden hose before crews arrived on the scene.
    There were no injuries reported.
    The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    SHARON (KDKA) — The Sharon Police Department is investigating the death of a 10-week-old child.
    Officers were called to the 100 block of West Budd Street just after 11:30 a.m. Friday.

    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh native rapper Mac Miller has died.
    TMZ reports Miller was found around noon Friday at his California home and was pronounced dead at the scene.
    He was 26 years old.
