    Police say a 51-year-old man and a friend took a boat out on the river from the Springdale Borough Boat Dock around 8 a.m.
    The two men later had to make repairs to their fishing tackle, so they decided to cross the Allegheny River to the Plum side near Barking Road so a dog they had with them could swim in the shallow water.

    LA BELLE, Pa. (KDKA) – An officer performing fire, safety and security checks at the Fayette State Correctional Institution was sickened by an unknown substance on Saturday morning.
    After the medical staff administered Narcan with the officer suffering from a flushed face and elevated heart rate, the officer responded.

    On Saturday, more than 2,500 people gathered for the 26th annual event, which hopes to find a cure for the disease, which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.     The incident happened along Route 980 in Cecil Township.
    According to Cecil Township Police, the shooting was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
    Reports of gunfire nearby turned out to be target practice going on around the same time as the shooting, police said.
