    WAKULLA, Fla. (KDKA) — A Florida woman was arrested Thursday after her 2-year-old child tested positive for methamphetamine.
    According to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, authorities started an investigation in January after receiving reports that 20-year-old Kaitlyn Ecker had let her 2-year-old child smoke marijuana and methamphetamine.

  • More Than A Dozen Campers Burglarized In Venango County

    PRESIDENT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A number of campers at a Venango County campground were ransacked this month.
    State police say an unknown suspect or suspects burglarized about 21 separate campers at the Kibbe’s Island Campground in President Township sometime between April 3 and April 13.
    According to police, windows were smashed, screens were cut and doors were damaged. The campers were all ransacked.

  • Body Found In Allegheny River Identified As Man Missing Since December

    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The body found in the Allegheny River in Blawnox on Thursday has been identified as a man who has been missing since December.
    The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office identified the man as 40-year-old John Paul Harrison.
    Harrison was found dead on Sycamore Island around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

    DETROIT (AP) — A black 14-year-old boy who got lost in a Detroit suburban neighborhood while trying to get to school was shot at by a white homeowner after knocking on a door to ask directions, prosecutors said Friday, citing home security video and the account of the boy.
    Jeffery Zeigler, a retired Detroit firefighter, was arraigned Friday on charges including assault with intent to murder.

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP/KDKA) – A big cigarette name is recalling the power units used for about 2.6 million electronic cigarettes.
    R.J. Reynolds Vapor Co. has issued a nationwide safety recall of all Vuse Vibe power units after consumer reports that batteries malfunctioned and caused the units to overheat and create a fire risk. No injuries have been reported.

    DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A raid conducted by a Los Angeles Police Department task force seized $700,000 worth of counterfeit cosmetics Thursday in Downtown L.A.’s Fashion District.

    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Hundreds of millions of eggs are being recalled over a possible salmonella contamination.
    The FDA reports that Rose Acre Farms is recalling more than 200 million eggs that were sold in multiple states, including Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The eggs were sold through retail stores and to restaurants via direct delivery.
    According to the FDA, 22 illnesses related to the recalled eggs have been reported so far.

    HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) — A man was fatally shot in the Hill District late Friday night.
    Police say officers were sent to the 1800 block of Cliff Street just after 10 p.m. for a report that there had been a shooting and someone was lying in the street.
    When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia University says a student who fell from a balcony this week has died.
    The university said in a news release that 22-year-old Colton Hodge of Falls Church, Virginia, died Friday. He was an exercise physiology student in his third year at WVU.
    The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports Hodge fell backward off a balcony Wednesday afternoon and was taken to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

    NEW FLORENCE, Pa. (KDKA) — After obtaining a search warrant, police and humane officers showed up a home in Westmoreland County to investigate a suspected case of animal neglect.
