    In a news release, the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh cites declining enrollment as the reason behind the decision.

    ELWOOD CITY (KDKA) — The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is announcing new plans for parish schools in the North Hills.
     
    Beginning in the fall of 2017, ten Catholic elementary schools in the North Hills will become a ministry of all 32 parishes in the region, which will provide support for all of the schools.

    Corey Thomas Booth, 26, was found dead in the woods approximately 100 yards behind his residence on Linford Lane in North Buffalo Township.
    Officials say his body was located around noon Saturday when family and friends did a search of the woods around the residence.

    STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Firefighters were called to Stowe Township on Saturday.
    It happened around 4 p.m. in the 500 block of Woodward Avenue.
    Officials at the scene tell KDKA after the fire was extinguished, a man in his 60s was discovered unconscious in an upstairs closet. Medics were able to revive him and transport him to UPMC Mercy.
    A woman who lived there was taken to Ohio Valley Hospital, along with a neighbor who went into the home to help and was overwhelmed by smoke inhalation.

    CLARKSVILLE (KDKA) — A woman was killed in a house fire in Washington County early Saturday morning.
    It happened just before 1 a.m. at a home on Step Street in Clarksville.
    The Washington County coroner’s office identified the victim as 40-year-old Chanel Bikowicz, of Clarksville, Pa.
    Bikowicz and one other person were trapped inside the home when the fire broke out. Bikowicz died in the fire. She was pronounced dead at 3:46 a.m.
