    Singer, songwriter and musician August 08 has died at age 31. No cause of death has been given. His label, Def Jam, shared a statement, reading, “The entire Def Jam family mourns the tragic loss of Ray ‘August 08’ Jacobs. A brilliant songwriter, an accomplished musician and a singular artist, August will remain in our memory as a beloved colleague and friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”

    Quicksand add Glitterer & Hotline TNT to ‘Slip’ 30th anniversary tour
    Quicksand will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic debut LP Slip on tour in North America this fall, and they’ve just revealed openers for the run. Glitterer (the project of Title Fight bassist/co-vocalist Ned Russin) will open the first leg of dates in late October and early November on the East Coast, and Hotline TNT (Will Anderson’s shoegazy noise pop project) joins them for the second leg in late November and early December on the West Coast.     Long Island metallic hardcore band Pain of Truth release their debut album, Not Through Blood next week and have now announced a fall tour. They hit most of North America in November with Vomit Forth and Life’s Question, and then play West Coast dates in December with Momentum and Torena.
