• Storm topples trees, knocks out power

  A fierce storm brought thunder and lighting to the Tristate area late Monday into Tuesday morning and wreaked havoc in some areas. Long Island was among the worst hit spots. SkyFoxHD was over a house in Setauket where a massive tree landed on the roof. The rain was letting up Tuesday morning but was expected to return later in the day. PSEG-Long Island reports there were 678 active outages effecting 34,029 customers.

  Five people are hospitalized after being shot in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn Monday night. Three of the victims are female and two are male, according to police. Four of the injured were taken to Lutheran Hospital. One of the victims was rushed to Methodist Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The shooting erupted at about 10:30 p.m. in the area of Dwight Street and Dalavan Street.
