    The John Fraser Bryan American Legion Post 19 presented the family of World War II veteran Norman Moore with a special patch for his service.
    Anthony and Bernadette Ferrara were given the patch honoring their late stepfather’s participation in the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany from Dec. 16, 1944 to Jan. 28, 1945. Moore served in the United States’ 101st Airborne Division.

    City kicks off Urban Forest Plan to increase tree canopy
    On Thursday in the South Bronx, Mayor Eric Adams announced the kickoff of his Urban Forest Plan, which aims to equitably increase the city’s tree canopy to 30%. Currently the city stands at about 22%, with some neighborhoods covered much more than others.

    Yankees’ Aaron Judge wins 2024 AL MVP for 2nd career honor
    For the second time in his career and for the second time in the last three seasons, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge has been named the American League’s Most Valuable Player, as voted on by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA).
    He became the sixth Yankee to win multiple Most Valuable Player awards, as well as the first since Alex Rodriguez in 2005 and 2007. Judge won the award unanimously for the second time in his career.
