  (CBSNEWS) – Every morning, the Mead Elementary school cafeteria is usually bustling with kids, hungry for breakfast. On Wednesday, the cafeteria was short staffed, but there were still hundreds of students who needed to be fed.
  With several employees out on sick leave, the cafeteria was about to get chaotic. Three lines of kids would have to turn into one, and breakfast would get backed up.

  GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A mother was arrested Saturday after giving police false information that led to an Amber Alert activation.
  Margarita Levrie, 34, was charged with filing a false report to a police officer, a Class B misdemeanor.
  Grand Prairie police say Levrie reported an alleged auto theft with her 10-month-old baby still inside the vehicle. An Amber Alert was issued for the baby after the report was filed.

  STAGECOACH, Texas (AP) — A Texas police officer is accused of fatally shooting his brother, who was a deputy sheriff, during what may have been a welfare check.
  The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says 59-year-old Robert Lee was arrested early Saturday for the shooting death of his brother, 57-year-old Harris County Deputy Rocky Lee.

  (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – Astronaut Alan Bean, who was the fourth person to walk on the moon, has died at the age of 86.
  A statement released by NASA and family members says Bean died Saturday in Houston after a short illness.
  Bean was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 12, which made the second moon landing in 1969.
  He then commanded the second crewed flight to the United States’ first space station, Skylab, in 1973. On that mission, he orbited the Earth for 59 days.

  BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) – A 40-year-old military veteran was arrested in connection with two explosive devices found in southeast Texas in recent weeks, federal prosecutors said Friday.
