• Schlitterbahn developers requesting a zoning variance

    A monument to honor the second largest Native American burial ground in Texas is becoming a reality. The South Texas Alliance of Indigenous People held a prayer ceremony, blessed the grounds and took measurements this morning for phase 1 of the Ishka Monument at Hans and Pat Suter Park on Ennis Joslin Road.
  • CITGO collateral on bail-out loan from Russia.

    CITGO, the U.S. arm of Venezuela's state-run oil and gas operation, is collateral on a bail-out loan from Russia's state-run oil and gas company, a partnership several congressional leaders worry might cede U.S.-based energy infrastructure to the Russian government. Russian oil and gas giant, Rosneft, loaned CITGO's parent company - Petroleos de Venezuela - $1.5 billion in exchange for a 49.5 percent share of CITGO, late last year.
  • Pettus UIL Academics places in regional competition

    On April 8, the Pettus UIL Academic Regional Qualifiers competed at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. The results of the competition are as follows: The Mathematics Team, Number Sense Team and Calculator Team all have advanced to the state meet which will be held April 21 and 22 at the University of Texas.
  • Man accused of breaking into home and evading arrest

    Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at 2:00 am early Sunday morning in the 4300 Block of Kostoryz Road. When officers arrived at the home, they noticed a 23-year-old female victim who had dried blood on her left arm.
