    BROOKLYN, Iowa  — The Iowa college student who was allegedly abducted by a stranger while running last month in a small Iowa town was killed by “multiple sharp force injuries,” investigators announced Thursday.

    Republican Congressman Duncan D. Hunter and his wife, Margaret, pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to federal charges they stole a quarter million dollars in campaign funds to furnish their lavish lifestyle.
    After the Hunters were indicted earlier this week for spending campaign money on expenses that included a $14,000 Italian vacation and thousands of dollars on routine items like groceries, bedding and other household items, Hunter said the charges were erroneous and politically motivated.

    Starbucks is paying employees to give back.
    The company announced on Thursday that it is testing a program that will allow some employees to spend half of their workweek at a local nonprofit.
    With the help of Points of Light, a nonprofit volunteering group, Starbucks picked 36 Starbucks Service Fellows in 13 cities for the pilot program. For six months, the fellows will spend at least 20 hours per week working for Starbucks, and up to 20 hours per week at a local organization.

    CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WFTS) — A woman was attacked by an alligator on Wednesday while she was swimming in a lake in Citrus County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
    The FWC says 24-year-old Felicitie Marie Gillette was swimming in Lake Hernando around 1 a.m. when an alligator grabbed her by the left arm and began to drag her underwater. She was reportedly able to fight off the alligator and call 911 for help.

    OXFORD  — A Connecticut business owner who authorities say went by multiple aliases has been arrested on a warrant for money laundering charges in California.
    The Republican-American reports 56-year-old Werner Janer was arrested Tuesday at his business, the Naugamatic Watch Company, in Oxford.
    He faces multiple charges, including grand theft, identity theft and forgery.
