    HARTFORD — A Hartford police officer is expected to make a full recovery from stabbing injuries sustained when she responded to a tenant-landlord dispute.

    DANBURY— A community is fundraising to help a Connecticut boy injured when a piece of metal roof hit him during last week’s storm.
    Eighth-grade student Lloyd Thyne was attending freshman orientation at Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury Tuesday when a gust of wind blew a piece of metal roofing that struck him.

  • Man killed in New Britain hit and run; police investigating

    NEW BRITAIN — Police are investigating the death of a 64 year-old man who was struck and killed in a hit and run Saturday afternoon.
    Police said the man was crossing Allen Street when a car, heading west, hit him. First responders who arrived shortly after, were able to transport the man to the local hospital but he later succumbed to his injuries.
    The car was described as a light-colored four door sedan with possible front end and windshield damage.

    OXFORD - Thousands of people across Connecticut remain without power days after four tornadoes touched down in the state, including many in Oxford.
    “It was like a freight train. It was incredible,” said Oxford resident Pual Aiksnoras.

  • 25 people hospitalized in New York from what police suspect was ‘synthetic marijuana’

    NEW YORK CITY — Twenty-five people have been hospitalized in the same area of Brooklyn after having negative reactions from what’s believed to be synthetic marijuana known as K2, according to Lt. Paul Ng with the New York Police Department.
    There have been no fatalities, Ng said Saturday night. According to police, the hospitalizations began Saturday evening and continued over the course of several hours.

  • Cuba official: 110 dead in crash, recorder found

    HAVANA, CUBA  — Cuba’s transportation minister says 110 people were killed in Friday’s plane crash near Havana.
    Adel Yzquierdo Rodriguez says 113 people were on board including 102 Cubans, three tourists, two foreign residents and six crew members who were from Mexico.
    Three Cuban women survived but are in critical condition at a hospital.
